The three books I am recommending to read are:
Leading Digital from George Westerman, Didier Bonnet, and Andrew McAfee
Strengths Finder 2.0 from Gallup and Tom Rath
Emotional Intelligence 2.0 from Travis BradBerry & Jean Greaves

Below we will look into why you should consider getting each book.

Leading Digital

The book is designed to help you lead your digital transformation. Before we dive into why the book is important, we need to understand what digital transformation is. Digital transformation is a bit unique to your business, as its how your business can best adapt digital technology not just to interact with your consumers, internally as well to improve or replace processes but also automate and update processes. The company I work for back in 2018 goes into more detail about what Digital Transformation is and the article can be found here, Digital Transformation's "So What?".

There is a meme/image traveling the internet that asks who lead the digital transformation for the company. The options are typically CEO, CTO, and then Covid-19, with Covid-19 circled. The following article from Forbes has the image and talks about it as well, Covid-19 Forcing your digital transformation.

This year, 2020, has been a hard year for humanity, at the same time it has been a driving force in the digital transformation. As Covid-19 pushed people to socially distance, work remotely, shop online more, and just spend more time at home and online, companies had to adapt. How do companies adapt, look at how they can do a digital transformation. The goal of this book is to help you on your way to becoming a digital master. This skill is currently a very important one as everyone is trying to find their path through this new digital frontier.
The book might be from 2014, and there is a rumor that a complimentary book will be coming out next year, but it still is highly recommended about helping you prepare for leading the digital transformation.

Strengths Finder 2.0 and Emotional Intelligence 2.0

These books both have an assessment you can take and then complement the assessment to help you improve. Strengths Finder is focused on identifying your strengths and weaknesses to help you be a more effective leader. Once you know your strengths and weaknesses it makes it easier for you to look at ways to lean on your strengths and improve your weaknesses. Emotional Intelligence 2.0 has a similar assessment however it is geared more on interactions with people. The book itself is designed to help increase your:
  • Self-Awareness
  • Self-Management
  • Social Awareness
  • Relationship Management

The reason these two books are listed are they both recognize that the skills they are trying to improve some people come naturally, however, anyone can improve them. Which as we all look to our career paths, theses skills can be extremely important to help tell your story. Some of the skills presented between the two books can easily translate to also help improve some important social interaction skills.

The reason these 3 books are grouped in the recommendation is each one is extremely powerful on its own. In the current times with Covid-19 they become even more powerful together.

There are of course other books and reading material that can help. Please comment with reading material that you belive people should read.
